It’s a sound intense and full of tradition that of Holly Macve, born in Ireland but raised in Yorkshire, from a family of music enthusiasts who owned a rich collection of music records to draw inspiration from.
“Be My Friend” is an elegant and fresh alt-country song, with a voice that stands out for its grace and originality, the sound is an explosion of acoustic and electric guitars, a drumming and a bass that are sinuous and punctual, a slide guitar that makes us slowly slip in another dimension that is more sunny and, in some way, full of promises.
In her 2017 “Golden Eagle” there were all the promising conditions for a career full of surprises, and in these last years Holly has developed a sound that gradually stepped away from stereotypes to land on more original and personal shores. What remains is an innate ability to describe cinematic-like scenarios with sudden glimpses that open onto an intimacy with varied shades, experienced with a watchful eye (and heart).
