Poise, an artist that from a difficult time draws an alt-rock gem of rare beauty, ready to shine for a long time.

REVIEW

It’s about coming out stronger, despite everything.” Poise

Lucy Murphy a.k.a. Poise, returns with a new single track: “New Kind Of Love” is a song that is born and never stops growing, giving us some nostalgic and intense emotions, but also the feeling that everything is in order and in its right place, the feeling that you have reached a destination.

The sense of reassurance comes from a voice and a texture perfectly balanced with the artist’s emotions, and still with the strength and energy that come from her sound spectrum, underlining the character of an author that has a story to tell, with a direct language and an effective and personal touch.

Lucy learned to love and know music from her father, who recently passed away. Growing up in Manhattan’s Bowery, in the midst of punk’s ferment and equipped with an encyclopedic knowledge of music, he infused his passion and talent to his daughter, who didn’t take long to pick up a guitar, starting a stimulating writing path, with a broad-spectrum of influences and inspiration.

Vestiges” is the title of the album that on July 30 will see the light, a collection of songs written and recorded during the turmoil of the pandemic, in which Poise explores dark abysses and bright peaks, songs soaked with life and intimate reflections on things around her, on what to save and what to discard. Sam Skinner and Theo Munger flank her with brilliant arrangements, finished in every detail. A test completed in the best possible way. Chapeau.
