A videoclip from last year called “Lullaby”, a rarefied atmosphere and an emphatic singing over a multitude of guitar arpeggios between dream and emo-pop.
Today there’s a new track in town, it’s called “Johnny” and is capable of presenting us the most mysterious side of Rhythm & Blues sound, just as we didn’t remember it.
Solid basses and foreground voices, without the support of any sumptuous arrangement, make their way with determination and an evident communicative urgency.
In this track the Hourglvss tell us about intimate plots using a symbolism that evokes elements of the blues history (after all, how many things are behind a name like Johnny?), messages of liberation ("free yourself, cut the ties") and dolls voodoo too. The result is a fascinating piece, that enormously stands out from almost everything that plays around us, naturally managing to earn the well-deserved attention. And then, how can you resist to words like "Johnny you are falling like a house of cards, someone is messing with your voodoo doll...". Something to keep an eye on.
