When it’s the soul that stands out from the sound sophistication: “Marea” by THINKABOUTIT. [Album Review]

REVIEW

Thinkaboutit is a band from Bari that has started a fusion process between musical genres that stay under the aegis of good music, in which the fil rouge is the great desire to experiment and communicate the profound harmony that has been developed among the 5 members that make up the workforce.

In “Marea“, their latest album via Totally Imported, the English lyrics elevate the work to a more international level, the research on sounds is done in the name of an achieved artistic maturity. Since that “in Secondo Piano” of four years ago, the sound has strengthened, finding at the same time new world nuances, exotic sounds mixed with a wise use of electronics, the dynamics among the instruments used are balanced and never end in rhetoric and sterile technicalities. We will not linger sounding out, track by track, the always interesting choices brought into play by Thinkaboutit, a certain avant-jazz that permeates atmospheres between pop and urban/nu-soul, rock and electronics intertwined in a sound flow that takes the best from tradition, renewed with a Mediterranean and personal touch that enhances the work.

Sixteen tracks seem, at first sight, a somewhat bulky operation in terms of attention span and general smoothness of the album, but in this case the playlist flows with great harmony, in the general energy of a work full of excellent ideas and suggestions that keep the mind awake and the heart open. Highly recommended.
